Super food is a health buzz word that you have probably heard. It is used to describe foods that have vitamins and nutrients that are uncommon or in a high concentration compared to similar foods. Below are some of the top super foods and why they are referred to as super foods. Some of them you have probably heard of, some of them probably not.
The acai berry is the first super food that I am going to talk about and you probably already know about it. This fruit offers a super high concentration of antioxidants. It also has dietary fiber, omega fatty acids, and even some protein. This unique combination of nutrients has made it one of the most popular health supplements in the world. Pistachio nuts are the next super food I want to introduce to you. These little nuts are called the skinny nut and are really good for you. They have high amounts of antioxidants, fiber, and protein. You can eat them as a snack by themselves or they can be added to salads, muffins, cereal, and lots of other snacks and meals.
There are two more super foods I want to mention. One of them is a fruit that gets compated to the acai berry and the other is a nut that you probably have used before but never thought of as a super food.
The pomegranate is a super food sometimes compared to the acai berry. It is full of antioxidants and has a very exotic flavor. This fruit has gotten a lot of attention because of its antioxidant content.
The next super food is the walnut. While you have probably heard of it, you probably don’t know how healthy it really is. The walnut is a great source of vitamins, antioxidants, dietary fiber and protein. They also have a higher concentration of omega 3 fatty acids compared to other nuts.
So where can you get these super foods? When yo uare looking for acai berries, the best thing to do is look for a supplement you can buy because they spoil quickly and aren’t usually shipped very far from the Amazon. Pomegranates have become very popular and are now available in the fruit section of many stores. Walnuts are available in almost any grocery store. Pistachio nuts are not as common as walnuts, but ther are available in most stores now.
These fruits and nuts make a great addition to any healthy diet as a snack or as an ingredient in healthy recipes.
